The Realm of Ehsan Danish
Ehsan Danish was one of the most renowned man of letters and prolific Urdu poet and prose writer of the 20th century. Endowed with a refined literary taste and excellence over the accurate yet prolific use of Urdu diction, Ehsan was an epitome of stylistic writings in the generes of poetry, prose, linguistics, lexicology, prosody, autobiography and literary interpretations of contemporary writers. ​
The literary journey of this self-made man started as Ehsan ul Haq, reshaped as Ehsan bin Danish and finally coined as Ehsan Danish. He was a workaholic person who struggled out through odd jobs e.g. mason, laborer, ink man, carpenter, cleaner, watchman. This does not inch him away from quenching the thirst of language and literature.
Destiny finally settled him in Lahore to earn his livelihood as a publisher. He established a publishing house namely Maktaba - e - Danish which enkindled the minds of thousands of students, teachers, literary figures and general public in India and Pakistan.
Ehsan Danish is well know as the shair -e- mazdoor (poet-laborer) due to his deep emotional appeal to the pangs and miseries of the laborer class. Being himself a laborer throughout his life, realistic portrayls of human sufferings, clash of the proletariat and the bourgeois and the struggle to live in a callous and ruthless aristoratic society truly emblemed the poetry and prose of Ehsan Danish.

He could barely acquired upto 4 grades formal education due to abject poverty.

A self-made, self-taught laborer who struggled all his life through odd jobs e.g. mason, inkman, watchman, gardener etc.
Most notably he worked in Punjab University, Lahore as a mason and calligraphy engraver. Later he was appointed as examiner and paper setter of MA in the same university.

He penned down over 100 authentic and research-oriented books on poetry, prose, linguistics, lexicology and prosody.
Most of his literary and linguistic works are in manuscript form and awaiting publication.

He was awarded Sitara - e - Imtiaz by the Government of Pakistan for his outstanding contributions to Urdu language and literature.

Jahan e Danish was his landmark autobiography that received literary accolades in all times.
The book was awarded Adam Ji literary award for its literary & linguistic diction and realistic portrayal of characters.

Jahan e Danish excelled in its human appeal to the pangs and miseries of the laborer class and become a universal emblem of victory of the oppressed over the opresser.

Ehsan Danish passed away on 22 March, 1982 and was buried in Miyani Sahab cemetery, Lahore, Pakistan.
